the cost of having kids...
is apparently up by over $60,000 from ten years ago. Something in the neighborhood of $230K over the lifetime of the child. Not sure what those figures include, but that number x3 for me = freaking out. Haha…no wonder we never have any extra cash around…

has anyone ever watched this show? I haven’t, but saw this today and nearly died laughing…gotta be one of the best running character bits I’ve seen in awhile.

We need more money (you and everyone else!)
I just saw the proposed school board levy increases that are on the ballot. Like I want to give more money away to anyone right now, geez…
I did find this article in the DNT that gives more info on what is being asked of us. If you’re a Duluthian, this is worth reading before you instantly default to a no-no-no vote.

Auto Correct
I’ve seen lots of auto-correct fails with the iPhone, and while I guess it helps me keep from making spelling errors, it also can make me sound really strange.
Yesterday I was trying to type “account” and missed the “n”. It then corrected it to “accouterments”. I mean, I guess I could have accidentally left off SEVEN letters. Oh well, thanks to my...
I am the 1%.
I find the whole Occupy Wall Street thing really interesting. I get it…I mean, I think I do at least. It’s impossible not to see/hear about the level of selfishness and corruption in the upper level of our society and not get frustrated and feel ripped off. I’d love to see it change as well. But we can’t forget that the 99% is just as corrupt and selfish, it just...

disputed charges...
so last week I got an email from paypal saying that microsoft had charged my credit card for $59.99. my first reaction was a bit of panic. i mean, i have had internet accounts hacked before, but my paypal account? that freaks me out. and I had no idea why there would be a charge from microsoft for anything. so I very quickly went into my paypal account and disputed the charge, as well as...
dear cell phone companies:
can someone please explain to me why you insist on asking me each time I must leave a message for someone if I’d like to send a “numeric page”? excuse me? that’d be great if they had a pager…but they have a cell phone. that I just called. and it also lets me send them this new-fangled thing called a “text message” should I choose to do so. but i...
A conversation at the conclusion of (yet another)...
Ryan: sigh
Liz: well...it wasn't horrible.
Ryan: the fact that you have to use that as your standard of evaluation is so sad.
Liz: well...we have seen worse.
Ryan: (about to get on a soapbox) but there are actually good movies being made! Movies that move you...movies that make you want to be a better person...
Liz: yeah. This wasn't one of those.
Ryan: No. This one actually makes me feel pretty good about myself as it is. I'm not near as stupid as any of those people.
Liz: Sigh.
a return...of sorts.
I’m really feeling like I should start blogging again. But I think my idea of “blogging” may have to be more “micro” for this to actually go anywhere. I always want to sit and write down these long, thoughtful posts with lots of pictures, but the reality is, there’s no way I’m making time to do that on enough of a regular basis to keep anyone...
